It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of William (Bill) Roy Virnau, 81, of Houston, Texas, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020, at Grace Care Center – Katy.
He was born in Winnie, Texas, on Jan. 28, 1939. Bill attended Baylor University and Texas A&M-Kingsville. He spent many years working in the auto parts industry where he was responsible for managing numerous stores throughout the Katy and Houston area.
Bill enjoyed music, technology, and spending time with family. Early in his life he enjoyed leading the church choir and writing Christmas cantatas for their family’s church home in Eagle Lake, Texas. Bill was a current member of Second Baptist Church, Houston, where he enjoyed singing in the choir, and attending an adult Sunday school class. It was there that he and Verlin enjoyed building lifelong friendships. Bill was known for his eclectic music collection and he could often be found in his chair with earphones on listening to “the oldies” on his latest and greatest stereo set up.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Verlin Virnau, parents Walter and Juanita Virnau, and four brothers: Richard, Harry, Walter, and Donald Virnau. He is survived by his sons, Michael Allen Virnau (wife Cynthia) and Robert (Bobby) Virnau (wife Andrea); grandchildren, Michael Austin Virnau (wife Jacy), Matthew Alden Virnau (wife Ashley), Erica Diane Virnau, Ryan Alexander Virnau, and Lauren DeeAnne Virnau; great-grandchildren, Hudson Virnau, Tessa Virnau, Ella Virnau, Jhett Virnau and Juleen Virnau.
A private family graveside service will be held at Sealy Cemetery, 768 4th Street in Sealy. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Henneke Funeral Home, 1515 Montezuma St., Columbus, TX 78934.
