Thrift store fashion challenge, photo shoot for juniors and seniors

Upcoming high school juniors and seniors have the opportunity to show off their fashion sense and thrifting skills by participating in the Thrift Store Fashion Challenge being presented by Flint Photography.

“We wanted to do something special as we approach back to school. Many of these students are already missing out normal activities, and we wanted to create a fun way for them to kick off the year with their friends,” said Sandy Flint.

Participants will have until Aug. 15 to shop their favorite thrift, antique, or other second-hand store to complete their outfit for under $30.

“They will pre-register with up to seven of their friends for a dedicated photo shoot time slot just for them. This is where we will create professional images of them both individually and with their friends as a group,” said Flint.

Participants will have the opportunity to win a variety of contest categories such as Thriftiest Shopper, Best Use of Color, Most Unique, and others. There will also be a people's choice award voted on by friends and family.

“We want this event to be a fun experience with the friends they are already hanging out with, but we're working to keep everyone safe as well. We are encouraging participants to follow current safety protocols, and we will be keeping groups small, and separate from other groups.” Flint said. “We are also happy to photograph them only separately, and not in a group if they are more comfortable with that.”

Photo shoots will be held on Aug. 15 in Sealy and Aug. 16 in Katy. Registration closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14. There is a $25 registration fee per student, but all registration fees will be donated to their school's student council to be used to support school-wide events.
