Thomas Lloyd “Tommy” Godwin, 72, of Cat Spring, Texas passed away December 1, 2018. He was born April 23, 1946, in Austin, Texas, the son of Lloyd O. Godwin and Florence (Hearn) Godwin.
He graduated high school in Austin, Texas, in 1964. Following graduation, he served in the United States Navy from 1964-1969 and did two tours in Vietnam as a Navy Seabee from 1967-1969. He married the love of his life, Karen Pearson, on December 24, 1983. They would have celebrated 35 beautiful years together this Christmas Eve. Tommy was a loyal employee for Shell Pipeline Corporation for more than 35 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Florence Godwin, sisters Nelda Ferrell and Dolores Godwin. Surviving in addition to his wife, Karen Pearson Godwin, is his brother, Franklin Godwin and wife, Grace, and sisters, Barbara Godwin Torn, and husband Joe, and Charlotte Godwin; sons William Roger “Billy” Janwich Jr., and wife Pamela, of Austin, Texas, and David Richard Janwich, and his wife Angie, of Lumberton, Texas and his daughter, Sherry Lynn Janwich of Church Point, Louisiana. Tommy is also survived by his five grandchildren Beverli Goebel Serrette, Rachael Goebel Bundick and husband, Chris, Heather Janwich Mascarella and husband, Miles, Deanne Michele Goebel and Zachary Thomas Janwich as well as ten great-grandchildren Aiden and Brooke Mascarella; Mariah, Kobe, Kyren and Kylie Bell; and Mayson, Aubrei, Emmah and Max Serrette.
Pallbearers: Billy Janwich, David Janwich, Wesley Mazac, Zachary Janwich, Harvey Popp, David Porter. Honorary Pallbearers: Melvis Eures, Monroe Eures and James Fleming.

A visitation with the family was held Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018 at Knesek Bros. Funeral Fourth Street Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Knesek Bros. Funeral Fourth Street Chapel with Rev. Eric Pitre officiating.
