Anyone who has lost a close loved one knows how it changes your world forever.
When that person is not well known or in the public eye, it may seem as if the world moves on without noticing. Fortunately, many people knew our son/brother Eric A. Zapalac, and when God called him home unexpectedly this past November, we experienced a great outpouring of love and compassion from the Sealy community and beyond.
Our loss was also a loss for many others who had been impacted by Eric's life and service – and it was great comfort that we didn't deal with the shock and grief alone. Just about everywhere we went in town, people stopped us to express condolences and share their memories of him – in some cases people we barely knew. Words can't express our appreciation for all the thoughtful ways people reached out as well as for the coverage provided by your paper.
As we all put the challenges of 2017 behind us, we are more grateful than ever to call Sealy home and to know that we are surrounded by so many who care.
Randy, Judy and Edward Zapalac
