The district tournament that was supposed to start for tennis teams last Saturday morning will now be played after school on Thursday, Sept. 27.
On top of that, Head Coach Lynda Mauney and her Sealy Tigers had their regular-season finale condensed due to a two-hour lightning delay last Thursday. It ended up being a close match once the balls were deemed safe to fly, but the visiting Caldwell Hornets squeaked out victorious.
It was a tale of two teams for the Tigers, as the boys' and girls' sides performed nearly the complete opposite of each other.
Only one boys’ doubles pair won while a single girls’ pair lost. All but one girl won her singles match while the boys had a lone representative in the winners’ circle. The mixed–double pair also lost, resulting in a 10-9 final score in favor of Caldwell.
However, with that match being an out-of-district tilt that did not affect the seeding heading into the postponed district tournament. The #3 Tigers square off against the #2 Needville Blue Jays while host and #1 seed Fulshear Chargers play the #4 Stafford Spartans.
