Sealy Tigers football

Seventh grade B team defeated West Brazos by a score of 7-0. Offensive standouts were Colby Eschenburg and Max Wickens. Defensive players of the game were Andres Flores, Eric Torres, Tori Ybarra and Nazareth Rodriguez. B team finishes with a record of 5-1 on the season.

The freshman team won their game against Bay City 28-14 at home. Parker Draper ran for three touchdowns and Stevie Alvarez ran one in as well. On the defensive side, Nick Martinez stood out with his interception. The freshmen will finish up their regular season against West Columbia on Thursday, Oct. 9.

The junior varsity team defeated Bay City 40-20.

Bellville Brahmas football

The Brahmas see their four-game win streak snapped by Madisonville on Friday in a 31-21 loss. The loss dropped the Brahmas below .500 to 4-5 on the season and 2-1 in the district which is enough to tie them for second with Shepherd. The Brahmas allowed 245 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground as well. Bellville had a similarly successful rushing attack but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Mustangs. The Brahmas finish off their regular season on the road against Shepherd this Friday with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Blinn College

Basketball - Blinn College men’s basketball opened the season with a 97-76 victory over the Lone Star College- Cy Fair Falcons Wednesday night in the P.E. Building. 

Blinn moves to 1-0 after three Buccaneers led the offense by scoring in double-digits. Dante Williams led the Buccaneers with 20 points, while Antione Lister followed with 17 and Curtlon Wesley with 12. Gianni Ford, Bradley George, and Markques Houston each contributed nine points to the win.

Volleyball - No. 19 Blinn College volleyball was eliminated from the Region XIV Championship Tournament after Navarro College swept the Buccaneers, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon in the Arthur Johnson Gymnasium. The Buccaneers were handed their first loss of the day by No. 9 Panola College by the score of 11-25, 17-25, and 22-25, before Navarro College swept Blinn by the score of 18-25, 20-25, and 19-25 to end Blinn’s season. 

Football - The No. 11 Blinn Buccaneers fell to the No. 8 Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Norsemen, 38-34, in the Southwest Junior College Football Conference semi-final on Saturday afternoon at Red Robertson Field. The Blinn Buccaneers trailed 21-10 at the half before outscoring the Norsemen, 14-3, to build a 34-24 lead with less than eight minutes remaining. 

“These kids fought their tails off, they haven’t given up all year long, and unfortunately we just ran out of time on this one, but you have to give NEO the credit,” said Ryan Mahon, Blinn head coach. In the final eight minutes, the Norsemen rallied for two touchdowns in order to defeat the Buccaneers.
