San Felipe residents came out last Saturday to enjoy the 3rd annual Small Town Christmas Festival last Saturday. Festivities included a parade in the morning, chili cook off, raffles and vendors from around Austin County. Residents set up tents and began to fry their turkeys as vendors set up their tables and trailers to sell their jewelry, snow cones and funnel cakes. The parade began at 11 a.m. and featured Austin County sheriff Jack Brandes, officials from San Felipe, Sealy Junior High cheerleaders, Royal High School marching band, the staff of the Saddleback Saloon and others. Families waved to them as they were settled with blankets and hot chocolate on lawn chairs, in their cars or some even in an RV. The parade was capped off with Santa and Mrs. Clause atop a San Felipe fire truck waving as people began to return to their festivities.
