SHS choir competes at district

On Saturday, Sept. 30, 16 choir members from Sealy High School went to compete at the District level of the Texas All-State choir auditions. Out of the 16 that competed, 15 of them will advance on to the pre-area competition in late November. According to choir director Matthew Kent, the singers prepared three difficult hard pieces that they had to perform for judges in a blind audition. Very few members make the All-State choir, so moving on in this competition is a big accomplishment. The majority will be performing with the All-Region Choir, a choir made up of the best singers in this area, on Nov. 4 at Tallowood Baptist Church in the Memorial City area.  The concert starts at 5 p.m. and is free to the public. Pictured left to right: back row- William Mock, Manuel Cortez, Christopher Ivey, Hunter Crosby, Caleb Hamilton, Blake Weber, Jose Hernandez, and Meagan Keeton.  front row - Lizbeth Dominguez, Mackenzie Kapla, Grace Johnson, Katie Fey, Ellie Hajovsky, Alissa Ashcraft, and Mayah Light.  Not pictured: Kelsey Leslie.
