A fire consumed the home of a Sealy family late Tuesday night.
Around 8 p.m., Debbie and Ernest McCoslin were forced out of their home on Samuel Lane with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
The couple was able to escape the blaze but everything inside the house, including their pets, were not.
Sealy Fire Chief Kenny Willingham confirmed that although the investigation has nearly run its full course, the cause of the fire is still undetermined.
The couple remains displaced and Willingham mentioned he reached back out to Mr. McCoslin after one community member inquired about donating some furniture.
That wasn't the only gesture made by area residents as a GoFundMe account was created mere hours after the news of the fire spread.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the donation total has climbed to nearly $4,200 to help the couple get back on their feet.
On top of that, the Rotary Club of Sealy also will be accepting donations for the family at its Thursday meeting.
Austin County State Bank also extended their Sealy and Bellville offices as drop-off locations for donations both monetary and otherwise.
Chief Willingham put those good deeds into words, saying simply; "Sealy has always been a strong community. When our citizens are in need they always rally around one another."
