Ruby Lee (Winkelmann) Emshoff


Ruby Lee (Winkelmann) Emshoff, of Sealy and the widow of Elton W. Emshoff, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Katy.

Ruby was born Oct. 21, 1925, to Edward and Melinda (Schroeder) Winkelmann. She was baptized into the Christian faith on Feb. 28, 1926, in Welcome Lutheran Church by Pastor Jacob Appel and was confirmed in Welcome Lutheran Church on March 17, 1940, by Pastor I.M. Mansur. On March 6, 1947, Ruby was united in marriage to Elton W. Emshoff at Welcome Lutheran Church by Pastor Wolf.

Ruby was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Ruby worked in Sealy for 30 years and after retirement, she enjoyed the outdoors. She loved working in the yard and garden both at home in Sealy and at the ranch in Kenney with Elton and her family. She also enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, and quilting with her friends and family.

Ruby was an active member at Trinity Lutheran Church over the years and was especially active in the Ladies Aid. She was an active member of the Sealy American Legion Auxiliary for 40 years, the Austin County Farm Bureau, the Texas Sportsman’s Association, and the Austin County Soil and Water Conservation District.

Ruby is survived by her loving family: son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. Emshoff and wife Donna of Sealy; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy K. Sodolak and Garry Mathis of Industry; daughter-in-law, Majorie Mae Emshoff of Bellville; grandchildren: Jerry W. Emshoff Jr. and wife Angie, Tammy Luera and husband Ernie, Mark Emshoff and wife Tiffany,

Nathan Sodolak and wife Erin, Stacey Kasberg and husband Greg, Sarah R. Emshoff, and Robert W. Emshoff; great-grandchildren: Hannah Emshoff, Stockton Emshoff, Dylan Luera, Lane Emshoff, Garrett Sodolak, and Presley Kasberg; step-great-grandchildren: Sierra Schultz, McKenna and Ethan Walden, Aaron Luera, Draven Ashorn-Hejl, Lindsey Meier, and Kaylyn Kasberg; step-great-great-grandchildren: Addie Luera, Clio Luera, and Karter McCullough; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Emil and Erna Glaeser Emshoff; her husband of 56 years; her son Jerry W. Emshoff Sr.; her brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Mabel Winkelmann; her sister and brother-in-law, Leona and John Spiess; her brother and sister-in-law, Erwin and Lilly Winkelmann.

Pallbearers: Jerry W. Emshoff Jr., Mark A. Emshoff, Ernie Luera, Nathan D. Sodolak, Greg Kasberg, and Robert W. Emshoff.

Visitation was April 26 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 402 Atchison St., Sealy, TX 77474. The funeral service wase at Trinity Lutheran Church on April 24, followed by interment at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Bellville.

Services were under the direction of Knesek Funeral Chapel, 768 4th Street Sealy.
