Some time ago, in the early days when Sealy had dirt streets, a single sighting started the Harvest Moon Festival with anticipation like never before.
In a pumpkin patch known to all in our area, there was a spectacular appearance, that none who experienced can forget. The “Pun-kin Pooch” brought candies and small gifts to those who believed in the magic of the Harvest Moon and relevance of the joy of our holiday season, and a desperate escape from the oppressive heat of the summer, the pandemic, and all of the masks and social distancing and such.
A mystic and grand outside pumpkin patch has emerged just south of Twisted Willow Floral Shop, near the fountain in downtown Sealy, called The Garden at Twisted Willow. A patch featuring large, small and unusual and adorable gourds to adorn your table and create a family conversation piece that is sure to bring back the relevance of the Harvest Moon and kick off the 2020 Holiday Season.
The initial season sighting of the Pun-kin Pooch can be witnessed in the window of Twisted Willow through Oct. 18. Drive or walk by or stop in the shop to see the Pun-kin Pooch. Then, weekdays, Monday through Friday, until Oct. 29, look for Pun-kin Pooch in businesses throughout downtown, as we wait to observe Halloween later this month.
Follow the Twisted Willow and Sealy Main Street Facebook pages for hints as to Pun-kin Pooch’s whereabouts.
Pun-kin Pooch seekers should keep a list of all of the places where Pun-kin Pooch is found. Include your name, phone number and email at the top of the list, and your list becomes an entry for prizes. Winners will be drawn on Halloween Day, Oct. 31.
Find the Pooch, keep a list, turn in your list at Twisted Willow Floral Shop on Friday, Oct. 30.
Find the Pooch, get the bounty, enjoy the offerings of the shops of downtown Sealy, and you could win!
