On Oct. 1, 1974, Mike and Betty Jo Prasek purchased Hillje Grocery, which was a typical small-town market that included meats, a saloon and a feed store.
In the 40 years since opening Prasek’s has grown to become one of Texas’ hidden gems. Prasek’s is still family owned and operated and now employs nearly 200 people between each of their locations.
With 117 different smoked meat items, more than 100 different fresh baked bakery items, a meat market, a dine-in restaurant, specialty food items, and all types of convenience items, Prasek's Hillje Smokehouse is a one-stop shop for all foodie needs.
Prasek’s beef jerky has received accolades and has been rated No. 1 by several food magazines and connoisseurs.
It is with great pride that the Prasek family and the Prasek team can now call Sealy a home away from home. The Sealy location opened Aug. 3, 2017, and a two-day grand opening event was held in late September.
Prasek’s is open seven days a week, Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Prasek’s is at 2949 Interstate 10 Frontage Road in Sealy. For more information call (979) 627-6027 or visit www.praseks.com.
