Summer Reading Program

Readers of all ages will explore all things musical this summer as Gordon Memorial Library presents “Libraries Rock” during their summer library program. Activities may include craft creation, group games, musical crafts and more. The 2018 Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool through sixth grade with programs, prize drawings, story times, and more. Families are invited to join the Read-to-Me portion of the program. (Include your summer calendar here.) Trinity Lutheran Church Vacation Bible School

Trinity Lutheran Church is hosting Vacation Bible School for those entering kindergarten through fifth grade from June 11-14, from 6 to 8 p.m. For more information, call 979-885-2211.

Public Dance

A public dance is set for 2 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at the American Legion Hall in Sealy. Polka, waltzes and more will be featured. The event is sponsored by Texas Heritage Music and Dance Club. Call 936-894-2804, email or visit for more information.

Court-Appointed Special Advocates

Every child has a chance … It’s you! Become a CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocate) and speak up for children in the foster care system. Volunteer to be a CASA crusader to help in capacities outside of the advocate role – fundraising, legislative advocacy, speakers bureau, etc. Learn more at Contact or 979-277-0088.

Texas German Society

Americans of German descent constitute the largest ethnic group in the United States with more than 58 million Americans proudly proclaiming their German heritage. Austin County and the surrounding areas contain a large number of inhabitants with German backgrounds. The Bluebonnet Chapter of Texas German Society strives to preserve and promote the German language, culture and traditions. This group meets bi-monthly at the Hill Center in Sealy.
