Crawfish, music and bring-your-own beer will be featured at the first “MudBugs on Main” event set for 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 6, in downtown Sealy.
Local musician Chris Ryan will take the stage along with Trey Rose from “The Voice” to entertain guests.
As Sealy’s Main Street program rebuilds, this is an attempt to get people downtown to see all the businesses and services offered in Sealy, organizers say.
“The Main Street Advisory Board has a vision to bring new life back to the streets that once filled downtown Sealy,” said Aya Reimer, Main Street Advisory Board member. “With growth from Houston moving at a rapid rate, it is the most opportune time to rebrand ourselves and welcome new residents into the small-town life by providing fun activities for all of our citizens, both new and old. The crawfish boil along with other exciting events we are working on will hopefully bring awareness back to our local businesses as well. They are the backbone to our community.”
The crawfish plates will be served with corn, potatoes and sausage. Dinner is served at 4 p.m. and will run until all 450 tickets are sold out.
H & R Brown Kustom Kookers are heading up the crawfish cooking.
“The main goal of this event is to bring the community together to enjoy a good time while promoting Sealy’s downtown area,” said Deputy City Secretary Brooke Christopherson. “The Main Street Advisory Board wants people from all over to see that Sealy is a happening place to be. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to host future events. This is just a stepping stone towards greater things to come.”
Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and pack a cooler for the outdoor party.
All-you-can-eat crawfish will be offered for $40 and presale tickets are available for $35.
A fenced area in the parking lot behind Citizen’s State Bank will be available for children, and kids under 10 can eat free of charge. An area for non-crawfish eaters will be available for $10, where Backdrop Events will be serving food.
