Margaret Filip Sustala


Margaret Filip Sustala was born on Sept. 7, 1930 in Moravia, Texas to parents Joseph and Albina Filip. She was raised in Hillje where she met and married her husband of 71 years, Albert Sustala.

Margaret was very involved in both community and church activities. In her early life she was a member of the 4-H club. She was devoted to the KJT and KJZT Catholic Unions of Texas, SPJST, The Catholic Daughters of Americas, Altar Society, Home based Communion Ministry and Funeral Aid Ministry. She was the Second Vice of the Archdiocese Counsel of Catholic Women. She also served as President and Historian of the Catholic Clerical Student Fund. Al and Margaret were very active in the Knights of Columbus bingo program.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, brothers Victor and Joseph Filip, sister Marie Grace Ladewig and grandson Joseph Charles Sustala.

Margaret is survived by her husband and sons, Albert Charles and wife Mac Lynne, Raymond Allen, Edwin James and wife Iman Haddad. Her grandchildren are Albert Thomas, Christopher, Kimberly, Lynne, Jeremy, Jerica and James. Her great grandchildren are Blythe, Brandon, Sven, Sabrina, Scout, Skye, Cameron, Delaney, Johnathan, Trevor and Cara.

Visitation was held Dec. 18, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Sealy. A second visitation was Dec. 19, 2018 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, followed by Rosary at 10:30am and Funeral Mass at 1:00am.

Pallbearers were Tommy Sustala, Chris Sustala, Brandon Sustala, Sven Baldwin, Jeremy Sustala and James Sustala.

Services were under the direction of Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapels, 768 Fourth St. Sealy, TX 77474.
