Loretta Duty, 78, passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018 in Sealy, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Don Duty, her son Mickie Duty, her brother Dennis Hubenak, her parents Frank and Amalie Hubenak, and her more recent significant other George Roark as well as numerous relatives and friends.
Loretta was born Aug. 31, 1940, in Frydek, Texas. She grew up on a farm in the Frydek community and then lived and worked in the Sealy, Mixville, Pattison and surrounding areas.
She worked her early years in a number of restaurants in the Sealy area. She owned and managed Loretta’s restaurant in Sealy during the late 1960s and 1970s. She had a lengthy career in the trucking business, for many years driving large trucks and then office managing for over 35 years. She was nominated for Texas Truck Driver of the Year numerous times.
She was the mother of two sons, Rickie and Mickie Duty, grandmother of one, Amanda Bryant, and great-grandmother of two, Annabelle and Benjamin Bryant. She was the sister of Gladys Pomikal. She was very close to her 3 nieces, Annette Strayer, Donna Murphy, and Betsy Harlan, and nephew, Wes Pomikal and their spouses and children. She also had a very close relationship with all of George’s children, Georgia York and Rosalyn Elledge, and the many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
During her later years, Loretta continued to enjoy visiting with and cooking for family and friends and loved watching and playing with her animals.
Family and friends to attend a visitation service Dec. 19, 2018, and the funeral service on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018 at 11 a.m.at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Frydek, Texas, with Father Thuy Nguyen officiating.
