Last year was my first year in Sealy, and I had the privilege of attending the phenomenon that is Sealybration.
Put on by the Sealy Community Foundation, the event includes vendors, live music, a softball tournament, barbecue cook-off and kid zone. It’s a fantastic community event that literally has something for all ages (a lot of events advertise that they have something for all ages; this one actually does).
The folks over at Sealy Community Foundation – which organizes Sealybration and Fantasy of Lights each year, in addition to providing youth scholarships and advancing education and charity – stopped by The Sealy News on Friday to announce this year’s Sealybration lineup.
SCF representatives Angela Schmidt, Leslie Ellis and Steve Aguado announced that this year’s event, set for July 13-15 at B&PW Park in Sealy, will once again feature fan favorite band Bag of Donuts. That’s big news for those who attended last year and fell in love with the … let’s just say unusual … characters who know how to show a crowd a good time. They’ll be joined this year by Spazmatics – another fan favorite – along with David Lewis Band, Carrie Marie Band and Jaimie Wyatt. This year’s lineup also will feature some local Latino bands La Calma and Banda Clave Sinaloense.
It seems like July is a long way off, but I hope the community will get excited, get tickets at https://sealycommunityfoundation.weebly.com/ and start spreading the word about Sealybration.
While it’s a great party for everyone who attends, the proceeds also go right back into local nonprofits and educational opportunities for our kids.
According to their website, Sealy Community Foundation “works with local leaders and community organizations who have firsthand knowledge of the needs of Austin County. We strive to raise funds and support these community groups who strengthen, engage and enrich our community, sustain diminishing public services and provide assistance to communities in crisis. We work to unite resources and ideas to help people and communities create a better tomorrow.”
Now is the time to get involved. This is a great cause, and you and the whole family will have a great time at Sealybration, I promise.
See y’all there.
