Lawrence Sopchak, age 89, of San Felipe, Texas, passed away on July 24, 2020. He was born April 9, 1931, in Wallis, Texas, to John and Sarah Sopchak.
After being drafted into the U.S. Army at age 21, Lawrence served this country during the Korean War. After returning home, he met and married the love of his life, Bonnie Stone. They lived in Houston until Lawrence retired from his welding career and moved to San Felipe. Although he enjoyed farming, his favorite pastime was refurbishing antique Farmall tractors.
Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Jim Sopchak, Martin Sopchak, Frank Sopchak and Raymond Sopchak. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, his four children, son Larry Sopchak (wife Robin), son Randy Sopchak (wife Julie), daughter Kathy Bostick (husband Desmond), and daughter Gina Walla (husband Shawn) as well as eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Mary Buechmann (husband Pat) of San Felipe.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date due to the COVID-19 conditions.
