On March 5, the Faith Academy Lady Knights traveled to League City to take on Bay Area Christian (4A) in a non-district game. Faith opened the game with three straight singles from Regan Woodley, Reagan Majewski and Maddy Gonzales. Destiny Interiano’s sacrifice fly drove Woodley home from third and Majewski scored on an error. Jasmyn Trejo followed up with a ground ball that drove in Gonzales to put Faith up 3-0 in the first.
Destiny Interiano was on the mound for the Lady Knights and allowed no runs. The next inning Kylea Bain drew a walk and made it to second and third on wild pitches. She eventually scored on a bad throw trying to pick her off at third. That brought the score to 4-0. As the Lady Knights defense went to take the field, the game was delayed because of lightning and eventually canceled due to weather.
The second game of the week was the district opener against Alpha Omega in Huntsville. The Lady Knight’s offense started the game hot and never looked back. Faith scored four in the first inning and second inning, five in the third inning and one in the fifth inning. The Lady Knights ended up scoring 14 runs on 15 hits in the game. Jasmyn Trejo led the team by going 4-4 in the game. Destiny Interiano, Maddy Gonzales, Lacy Phillips, and Reagan Majewski all had multiple hits in the game. It was the second time in a week the Lady Knights hit four home runs in one game.
Maddy Gonzales was on the mound for Faith. She dominated the Alpha Omega batters by striking out 12 of the 16 batters she faced and only walked one. The defense made no errors and the Lady Knights cruised to a 14-0 victory.
“I have been very pleased with the positive steps we have taken over the last week. The girls have been executing our game plans to perfection. I expect them to keep growing in their ability and team chemistry,” Coach Kenneth Woodley said.
The Lady Knights are off for spring break but return to action on March 20. They will be traveling to Beaumont for their second district game.
