Destiny Interiano wasted no opportunities at the plate on Monday, driving in six on three hits to lead Faith Academy Lady Knights Varsity past Brazosport Christian 11-1 on March 26. Interiano drove in runs on a double in the third and a grand slam in the fourth.
Faith Academy Lady Knight scored in the first inning when Lacy Phillips tripled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
Faith Academy Lady Knights scored five runs in the fourth inning. Reagan Majewski and Interiano all moved runners across the plate in the inning.
Maddy Gonzales was the winning pitcher for Faith Academy, she went five innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out 11 and allowing no walks.
Faith Academy Lady Knights tallied 11 hits on the day. Interiano and Marissa Przyborski all had multiple hits for Faith Academy Lady Knights Varsity. Interiano went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Faith Academy Lady Knights Varsity in hits.
Lacy Phillips was bad news for opposing pitchers the next day, driving in five on three hits to lead Faith Academy Lady Knights Varsity past Pasadena First Baptist Christian 18-3. Phillips drove in runs on a single in the first, a single in the second, a double in the third and a fielder's choice in the fourth.
Faith Academy got things moving in the first inning, when Phillips singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
Lady Knights put up six runs in the third inning. Faith Academy Lady Knights offense in the inning came from doubles by Destiny Interiano, Phillips and Kylea Bain, a single by Regan Woodley and a home run by Woodley.
Interiano was credited with the victory for Faith Academy. She allowed five hits and three runs over four innings, striking out six and allowing no walks.
Faith Academy Lady Knights tallied 19 hits on the day. Woodley, Maddy Gonzales, Phillips, Marissa Przyborski, Interiano, and Katelynn Burasco each collected multiple hits for Faith Academy. Woodley went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Faith Academy Lady Knights Varsity in hits.
The Lady Knights resumed play on April 5 as they took on Alpha Omega in district play. The Lady Knights started out strong with a quick nine-run first inning. The Lady Knights came out on fire hitting the ball and capitalizing on some Alpha Omega miscues. Faith Academy failed to score any runs in the second inning but the third inning was a different story. The bats once again came to life when the Lady Knights scored seven runs in the third inning. The game was ended on a walk-off three-run home run from Kylea Bain.
Destiny Interiano led Faith Academy by going 3-for-3 and piling up six RBI on the day. Destiny not only was perfect at the plate, she also pitched a one-hitter, struck out five and walked none.
The win brings Faith Academy to an overall record of 13-1 and 6-0 district record.
“We are hitting our stride at the right time. All the hitters, up and down the lineup, are seeing the ball very well and we are finding the gaps. Defensively, we have great pitching and the defenders behind them are all solid. We have had one game where defense struggled, but we grew from it and that game has made us a better team,” Head Coach Kenneth Woodley said.
