Knights wrap up season

The basketball season came to an end for the Faith Academy Knights last week and three athletes closed their campaigns on double-digit performances.

Although the host Southwest Christian Academy Saints took the game by a 61-47 margin, Pierce Newcomb (16), Nathan Figueroa (13) and Nathan Taake (12) sat atop the Knights' scoresheet thanks to a strong second half.

Faith Academy outscored Southwest Christian, 33-23, in the final two quarters but the Saints' lead from the first half helped them secure the win. Newcomb added eight rebounds and four steals to the final performance of his Knights basketball career.

On the season, Faith Academy ended 0-12 overall and 0-8 within TAPPS Class 1A’s District 9 but gained invaluable experience this year which will help them improve those marks next year.

On the girls’ side, the Lady Knights clinched a playoff berth but information on their postseason was not available at press time.
