Johnnie J. Jurik, 94, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on Friday Dec. 29, 2017. Johnnie was born in Nelsonville, Texas, on Dec. 24, 1923 to the late Anna and John Jurik.

Johnnie was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving his country honorably during World War II in the North African Theatre. He was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church before it closed and now St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. One of his great joys was helping with Meals on Wheels. Johnnie owned his own tractor and landscape business and was known and highly respected for his honesty and fairness. Johnnie’s mechanical expertise enabled him to design and repair just about anything. He enjoyed bowling and playing dice games with all of his dear friends.

Surviving Johnnie is his wife of 69 years, Ruth; children, Janet Jurik, Tom (Kris) Jurik, Patricia Gayle Robbins, and Susan Meitzen; grandchildren, Stephanie (Jeff) Greaves, Staci (J.P.) Sandwell, Kelsi Jurik, Jodi (Alex) Cordle, Aryn (Michael) Romer, Cara (Jason) Liebman, Clint (Sandra) Robbins, Whitney (David) Sprinkle, and Jessica Meitzen; and great-grandchildren, Logan, Ava, Isabella, Hunter John, Amelia, Aubree, Lillian, Brooklynn and Tinly.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and a brother.

A Celebration of Johnnie's life will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on Thursday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Julie Odle.

A gathering of friends and family will be held prior to the celebration from 1 to 2 p.m. A military salute honoring Johnnie will be held at the interment site at Forest Lawn Memorial Park immediately following the ceremony.

Serving as pallbearers are Kyle Daniel, Clint Robbins, Michael Romer, J.P. Sandwell, Tommy Bobino and Bob Fisher.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to Saint Andrews Church for hurricane disaster relief or the charity of your choice.
