Jeanette Florence Sliva Zajicek, age, 79, of Wallis passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 12, 2018 after a 16-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Sealy, Texas to Willie B. and Florence (Fojtik) Sliva on April 29, 1939. Jeanette grew up in Wallis and graduated from Wallis High School in 1957. On Sept. 20, 1959, she was united in marriage with Albert Zajicek at Guardian Angel Church.

Jeanette enjoyed a long and illustrious career at Eagle Lake Rice Dryer, Inc. from July 1961 until her death.

She was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church, KJZT, KJT, Sons of Herman, CDA, Court Queen of Angels, Wallis American Legion Auxiliary, and prior member of Eagle Lake Study Club, Community Garden Guild of Eagle Lake, (USBC) United States Bowling Congress, Texas State Bowling Congress, Houston USBC, Wallis City Council and Eagle Lake Pilot Club.

Jeanette lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, bingo, gambling, dominoes and taking care of her family and friends. Her bowling career spanned her entire adult life, bowling with numerous family and friends. For more than 45 years, Jeanette traveled to national tournaments throughout the United States and Canada.

Jeanette is survived by her sisters Evelyn (Erwin) Wilke and Helen Sliva of Wallis. She is also survived by her nieces and nephew, Debbie McCain of Wallis, Donna (Kelly) Schrock of Orange, Diane (Johnny) Glueck of Tomball, Lisa (James) Nicholson of Katy, and David (Sherry) Dolejsi of Tomball, as well as eight great nieces and nephews and her “two boys” Cocoa and Toby.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert and her parents, Willie B. and Florence.

Pallbearers: David Dolejsi, Johnny Glueck, James Nicholson, Hunter Glueck, Edmund Jurek, Leslie Jez and Billy Nicholson.

Honorary Pallbearers: Derek Hulyk and the Directors of Eagle Lake Rice Dryer, Tom Kelley, Steve K. Balas, Jacko Garrett, P.D. Gertson, Jr., Jason Hlavinka, Garrett Harvey and Billy Cook.

Visitation with the family was held on Aug. 16, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at Guardian Angel Catholic Church with a funeral mass being held on Aug. 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. followed by interment at Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery in Wallis, Texas.
