Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital earns accreditation for breast care program

The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a quality program of the American College of Surgeons, has awarded three-year accreditation to Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital.

To achieve voluntary NAPBC accreditation, Houston Methodist Sugar Land had to demonstrate compliance with the NAPBC standards that review leadership, clinical services, research, community outreach, professional education and quality improvement. Breast centers seeking NAPBC accreditation undergo a site visit every three years.

“As the only NAPBC-accredited center in Sugar Land, Houston Methodist Sugar Land is committed to maintaining levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive, patient-centered, multidisciplinary care resulting in high-quality care for patients with breast disease,” said board-certified hematologist/oncologist and breast program director, Dr. Jorge Darcourt. “We are committed to our patients and proud to offer the highest level of care.”

Receiving care at a NAPBC-accredited center ensures that patients have access to:

  • Comprehensive care, including a full range of state-of-the-art services;
  • A multidisciplinary team approach to coordinate the best treatment options;
  • Information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options; and
  • A survivorship plan that documents care and seeks to improve quality of life.

“Providing high-quality, compassionate care is central to our mission, and we are proud to receive the NAPBC accreditation,” said Amy Sebastian-Deutsch, director of oncology and infusion services at Houston Methodist Sugar Land. “Our patients and their families depend on our commitment to provide the highest level of care, most advanced technology and survivorship support from the moment of diagnosis. We are proud to have these efforts recognized and accredited by the NAPBC.”
