Honey Bee Jubilee was a sweet success

Dear Editor,

Just a quick note to thank y’all for the write up last week promoting the Jubilee. The turnout was unbelievable. I’m guessing around 800-1,000 people. We were thinking we’d be lucky if we got a few hundred.

The entire area for three blocks around the venue was filled with parked cars. Most of the honey vendors sold most (if not all) of their honey. Not to mention the artists, plant sales, bee equipment, etc. The New Ulm VFD was selling hot dogs and they had to leave three times to buy more. They cleaned out the stores in Industry and New Ulm.

Mitja Peterson was making sliders and he also had to make a run to buy more ground beef. He made over 125 sliders and the NUVFD sold close to 200 hot dogs! It was a HUGE success for all the vendors, presenters, entertainers, volunteers, local businesses and the New Ulm Community.

Brenda, my wife, was running the shuttle and had the opportunity to ask most of the folks where they were from. The two places mentioned most were Sealy #1, then Bellville. I got the same feedback from my interactions. We had one couple we know of that came from out of state just for the event and another from East Texas somewhere. They stayed at a B&B nearby.

So, thanks again for helping promote our community. The article was well written, and we are certain it helped create awareness for the event. We’re looking forward to next year!

Happy Trails!
