The Sealy Chamber of Commerce will usher in new board president Jon Snell at its annual banquet, set for 6 to 10 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
The event theme is “Superheroes,” and the Chamber will recognize the many local residents and supporters who experienced devastation from the microburst storm and Hurricane Harvey this year. Each table of participants will represent a superhero theme.
The 2018 board of directors will be honored. Directors include Travis Askew, outgoing president Lisa Caton, Rob Emshoff, Toni Franklin, Virginia Gilbert, Mike Halpin, Gary Hutson, Brian Lapham, Dora Martinez, Kristen Nelson Novicke, Keith Oliver, Mitja Peterman, Greg Stuessel, Joe Svrcek and Vince Wollney.
Past president Caton, director of Blinn College’s Sealy campus, said she appreciated the opportunity to serve the community.
“I was truly amazed at how much the Chamber accomplishes with such a small staff,” Caton said. “They rely heavily on volunteers so volunteer when you can. I promise you will get more out of it than you realize.”
Incoming president Snell, senior manager with Whataburger Corp., said he is looking forward to his term of service.
“I feel privileged to serve as president and look forward to working on behalf of our members toward a successful 2018,” he said.
