SAN ANTONIO – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Bexar County will present a Food Handlers Permit Course at 6 p.m. Jan. 31.
The course will be held at the AgriLife Extension Bexar County office suite 208 of Conroy Square, 3355 Cherry Ridge Drive.
“This food handlers program is accredited by the Texas Department of State Health Services,” said Angie Gutierrez, AgriLife Extension agent for family and community health, Bexar County. “Those successfully completing the food handler training can earn a two-year permit from the state.”
Gutierrez said the class provides a basic overview of the food safety practices necessary to ensure safe food handling at restaurants, health care facilities or other establishments where food is served. Some of the practices addressed include good personal hygiene, cross contamination and time and temperature abuse.
Attendees are asked to preregister by calling the AgriLife Extension office at 210-631-0400. For more information, contact Gutierrez or Frances Moreno-Elizondo at that number.
