Faith track competes in regional meet


The Faith Academy Track Team competed in the TAPPS 1A Regional Meet on April 28 in Webster. Brianna Gallaher was the regional champion in the 3,200 and 1,600 for the third straight year. Newcomer freshman Josh Poorman was the regional champion in the 1,600.

The boys’ team was pleasantly surprised when they placed 3rd in the team standings against 18 teams.

Qualifying for State is the following: Brianna Gallaher who placed first in the 3,200 and 1,600, Josh Poorman who placed third in the 3,200 and first in the 1,600 and Brody Schiller who placed third in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles.

In group competitions, the 4x100 team consisting of Roy Shepherd, Pierce Newcomb, Brody Schiller and Miguel Guerrero placed fourth while the 4x200 relay team of Shepherd, Newcomb, Landen Bright and Guerrero won third place.

The 4x400 team of Shepherd, Newcomb, Guerrero and Josh Poorman placed third as well.

The team will compete at the state meet which will be held May 4 and 5 in Waco at Panther Stadium at Midway High School.
