The Faith Academy track team competed at the Brookshire Royal Meet on March 29. Un-phased by 4A public schools with outstanding track teams, Bellville, Sealy, Brazos, Hempstead and Royal, the Knights performances were off the chart.
They had personal bests in six events starting with the 4x100 relay with Roy Shepherd, Pierce Newcomb, Brody Schiller and Miguel Guerrero winning fourth place with a time of 48.60.
Landen Bright ran a 2:28 to place fifth and Brody Schiller was fourth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 18.81 and ran a 48.68 in the 300 hurdles.
Josh Poorman leaving the pack of runners on the first lap and with a look of determination placed first in the 1,600 with a time of 5:12.
Peirce Newcomb, Landen Bright, Josh Poorman and Miguel Guerrero placed fourth in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:05.
At the Brookshire Royal Track Meet Pierce Newcomb was a huge factor in helping the team run personal bests in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. With motivation from within, 100 percent effort in workouts and leaving everything on the track for his teammates, Pierce is developing into the absolute definition of a true runner: guts, hard core determination and not doing anything less than his best. Pierce and his teammates are on a mission to run in the TAPPS 1A state meet in all three relays.
