The Gamma Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met in the Fellowship Hall of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg, Texas on Dec. 1 with 48 members present. Gladys Avis read the mission statement and led members in reciting the Collect. Pledges were led by Lee Brodhead. The prayer was given by Joyce Whitehead and the meditation was given by Mary Wilhelm.
Brenham members hosted the meeting and presented the program, “It’s Time to Shop!” Proceeds from the silent auction will be used to assist members who will be attending the DKG State Convention in Arlington.
President Lou Pruett presided over the business meeting. Minutes from the November meeting were approved as presented by Melanie Ueckert. Trudy Holland’s Treasurer’s report was approved. Corresponding Secretary Janet Allphin, read several pieces of correspondence.
The Program Committee report was given by First Vice President Jeanell Dallmeyer. Gold Star Mothers’ Program will be presented by the Sealy members at the February meeting. Pruett gave the legislative report encouraging members to keep up with Tim Lee’s “The Outside Line.”
Sue Wieprecht announced the recipients of the 2018-2019 Delta Kappa Gamma scholarships. The Maggie B. Selman scholarship was presented to Haley Coronado of Somerville; and the Dorothy Louise Lehrmann scholarships were presented to Ivonne de Jesus and Brittany Paget, both of Bellville. The Operation Lend-a-Hand was awarded to the Lexington members.
Membership Chairman, Anna Breddin, stated that there are applications available for recruitment of future members.
The next chapter meeting will be Feb. 2 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Phillipsburg. Door prizes were donated by Linda Herrmann and won by Janet Allphin and Linda Pinkerton. The Focus prize donated by Lou Pruett was won by Melanie Ueckert. The meeting adjourned, followed by members singing the Delta Kappa Gamma song.
