Closure needed for son’s murder

Dear Editor,

For two years and six months, I have been trying to get justice for my son, Emerick Dworaczyk.

He was (allegedly) murdered Feb. 14 by John Christian Jones. This was his friend, someone he thought he could trust. Now my son is gone and this man still walks the streets of your town every day.

Travis Koehn is the District Attorney in Austin county and he is in charge of prosecuting my son’s case but for reasons I do not understand, Koehn told me, Emerick’s mother and his five brothers and sisters, that he did not see the need to put John in jail.

He killed my son; stood five feet away from him and pulled the trigger. My son deserves more than what Austin County is doing.

Emerick was only 26 years old when this happened. He had his whole life in front of him. He will not get to watch baby Dean grow or do any of the things most young men want to do. John took that away from him. My life has been forever changed. Parents are not supposed to bury their children, but I had to bury mine.

For the Austin County District Attorney’s Office to keep this case out for as long as they have is beyond me. This family needs to be able to heal. This cannot be done until we have our day in court.

Thank you,

Malinda Morgan
