At the Feb. 12 Sealy City Council meeting, City Manager Lloyd Merrell reported the following:
Update on removal of the median sign on Main Street – The city received a $1,500 reimbursement check from a motorist who hit the sign, which has now been removed.
Update on repairs to the B&PW walking trail – A grant allowed the city to complete a project to repair storm damage.
Christian City Youth Concert – The event is planned for March 2 at Levine Park. Road closures are planned.
Texas General Land Office Disaster Recovery Grant – The city was awarded a $2 million Community Development Block Grant that must be spent in a low-to-moderate income area. The funds will be spent on drainage projects.
Interlocal agreement with Sealy ISD – The city is awaiting word from the school district regarding limb pick-up and mowing.
Update on Main Street water line project – The city has about 90 percent of the drawings complete and expect to go out for bids within the next few weeks.
Update on Highway 36 North water and sewer project – The project should be ready to go out for bids in early March.
Update on pool contract with Aquatico – The contract and associated costs are being negotiated and the matter should go before council at its next meeting Feb. 26.
