City manager’s contract renewed

Sealy City Council members unanimously approved City Manager Lloyd Merrell’s $121, 540 annual salary, renewing his contract for two more years.
At the Feb. 26 Sealy City Council meeting, Merrell reported the following:
Update on the city council ethics policy – The revised policy will be presented to council at its March 23 meeting.
Update on the status of collection of delinquent Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) funds – The Rooms 4 Rent Motel has been delinquent for last two quarters of 2017 and all four quarters of 2018. A collections agency is seeking reimbursement on behalf of the city.
Update on possibility of a drainage easement off San Felipe Street for the ditch that goes to Travis Street – Two homeowners have agreed to an easement and a third has not yet. Lawrence Siska of the city’s Public Works Department has agreed to look into the matter.
City-wide garage sale – The event will be held April 13. The last day to register is April 5. Information is posted on the city website and Facebook page.
