Charles Magil Bradfield

Charles Magil Bradfield passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020, in San Antonio, Texas.

He was born on Sept. 20, 1931, in Waelder, Texas, to Robert E. Bradfield and Arldia (Westbrook) Bradfield. He was a graduate of Sealy High School and Sul Ross University. He was a geophysicist who spent many years working in Africa and Southeast Asia but remained a Texan at heart.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mimi Bradfield; his second wife, Lavonne Kennedy Bradfield; his elder brother, Ganey Westbrook Bradfield; daughter-in-law, Jenni Arburn; grandson, Nicholas Arburn; and his parents, Robert. E. and Arldia Bradfield.

He is survived by his children, Anthony C. Bradfield and Dr. Kevin Black, Monica L. Lacombe and Dr. Donald Lacombe; his sister, Anna Lucy Brown; his brother, Robert Elliot Bradfield; his sister-in-law, Virginia Bradfield; and his stepchildren, Ginger Rogers, Bill Rogers and Don Arburn; grandchildren, Ella and Tony Lacombe and Rhiannon and Abel Rogers; nieces and nephews; and friends.

He lived quite an adventurous life, was proud of his family, and would give you the shirt off his back. In this time of strife, we know that were he able, he would be doing his best to aid his neighbor. It is in that spirit and with that spirit of service, that we ask you to remember him and honor his memory by extending a helpful hand when needed.

The family would like to thank Brookdale Oakwell Facility and Brookdale Hospice, and all of the various staff members for their exceptional care. We would like to thank his private care giver and family friend Rene Inez Garcia for her constant care of our loved family member.

Due to the timing of his passing, there will not be a funeral service given the current prohibition on congregating due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, it was his wish that donations be made to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo or the Salvation Army, in his name.
