Brad Burttschell claimed the title of Sealy News Gridiron Guru this year, correctly predicting 74 games over the 2019 high school, college and NFL seasons.
Community businesspeople from places like Houser Roofing, Cliff Jones, Big T’s Auto Detailing, Sealy Police Department and more guessed the winners of 10 games each week (five on the high school level, two college games and three NFL contests) and jockeyed for position all year before Burttschell took a large lead in the final weeks.
The President and CEO of Citizen’s State Bank earned his second Gridiron Guru Championship over the last three years and will return next year to defend his crown again.
Not far behind Burttschell in the final standings were Bradley Pekar of Riverside Tires (67-42 overall), SPD’s Jay Reeves (64-45) and a three-way tie for fourth between Lewis Brazelton (Brazelton’s South County Dealers), Jeff Virnau (Virnau Sealy Tractor) and Cole McNanna (The Sealy News) with 63-46 records. Tim “Big T” Fitzgerald of Big T’s Auto Detailing (62-47), Jim Pursley of Cliff Jones (61-48) and Dustin Houser of Houser Roofing (57-52) rounded out this year’s participants.
(The Sealy News thanks all the sponsors and pickers who helped make the 2019 Gridiron Guru season a success!)
