Brazos earns fourth from Weimar


The Brazos Cougars cross country team competed in the Weimar Cross Country Meet on Saturday in Weimar.

The varsity girls team finished fourth with 107 points. Individually, Esmeralda Garcia finished 11th, Makinzy Kneip placed 13th, Rubi Garcia was 22nd, Gracie Arteaga 30th, Allie Gonzales 38th, and Valentina Ibarra 55th. There were 126 runners and 14 teams in the race.

The varsity boys team finished fourth with 135 points. Individually, Zachary Cortez placed fourth, Brayden Hanzelka finished 15th, Bryan Pedroza was 37th, Alfredo Ochoa 46th, Joshua Martinez 48th, Kaden Kneip 50th, and Anthony Gonzales 70th. There were 121 runners and 15 teams in the race.

In the junior varsity girls race, Ashley Perez was 16th and Lizbet Roque 21st.

In the junior varsity boys race, Jacob Molina finished 18th, and Wesley Holub placed 29th.

The junior high girls' team finished tenth with 219 points. Individually, Haylie Eder finished 16th, Madison Doss placed 25th, Kezia Molina was 67th, Genesis Molina 77th, Lylah Durrett 104th, and Sylvia Lopez 105th. There were 128 runners and 11 teams in the race.

In the junior high boys' race, Fernando Mora placed 29th and Rees Snedaker finished 70th.

The cross country teams will compete Saturday, October 5 in the Shiner Comanche Cross Country Meet in Shiner for the last cross country meet before district competition.
