The second quarter had the most action in the non-district contest between the Bellville Brahmas and Sweeny Bulldogs, with both teams finding the end zone to close the first half with an 11-7 score.
A Bellville fumble left Sweeny with the ball on its own 33-yard line where, before long, the Bulldogs found themselves on the doorstep of the Brahmas end zone but had to settle for a field goal from the 11.
The next time Bellville put the ball on the ground, however, Sweeny turned it into a touchdown with a 21-yard pass from Trey Robbins to Xavier Woods for an 11-0 lead for the host Bulldogs with about five minutes to play in the half.
After forcing a quick three and out, the Brahmas started on their own 33-yard line with only seconds remaining on the clock and received a big 63-yard run from Robert Briggs to get on the board before the first 24 minutes were up.
That ended as the only Bellville drive to hit pay dirt on the night, however, with Sweeny scoring once in each of the final two quarters to push the score to its final resting place at 24-7.
Briggs was the leading rusher for the Brahmas, taking 10 carries for 131 yards with the touchdown burst serving as his longest jaunt of the night.
Brett Heintschel carried 14 times for 65 yards, Kyle Peschel recorded 46 yards on six carries and quarterback Jake Lischka added six yards on four carries while completing his lone pass to Quarvante' Butler for 0 yards.
Bellville ends its non-district schedule 3-2 and heads into a bye week this Friday before starting District 12-4A play Oct. 11 against the Smithville Tigers on the road.
