Boyce Dawson Orange Sr.

Boyce Dawson Orange Sr. was born on Sept. 9, 1930 to James Albert Orange and Davie Alco Orange. He passed from this life on Oct. 4, 2018. He was raised in the Hempstead area.

After a brief service in the Marines, Boyce worked in San Antonio as a police officer. There he met his future wife Florence Mae McElwee. They were married on December 22, 1950. To this union was born two children, Bonny Mae and Boyce D. Jr. They were married for 54 years until her death in 2005.

Boyce Sr. is preceded in death by his parents, James and Davie Orange, his wife Florence and his daughter Bonny Mae Hilmers.

He is survived by his son Boyce D. Orange, Jr. and his wife Sheryl Kay Orange, four grand-children, Cory Branstetter, Clint Branstetter and wife Yvonne, Robert Orange, and Ashley Orange. He also is survived by seven great-grandchildren.

Boyce enjoyed visiting friends and family, telling stories about his life. He attended the Hidden Valley church of Christ in Houston. Boyce worked as an electrician trainer and maintenance for Continental Can Company for over forty years. He also worked as a reserve officer in Deer Park.

Boyce and his wife Florence enjoyed going to flea markets on weekends after his retirement. Boyce also enjoyed watching westerns especially John Wayne movies!

The family extends special thanks to Rebecca and the Stonebridge family for the love and kindness shown Boyce during the time he lived at Stonebridge. Special thanks to Oscar Johnson who went the extra mile loving him.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Sealy Cemetery. Arrangements were under the directions of Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel at 768 Fourth St., Sealy, TX, 979-885-3535, www.knesekfuneralhome.com.
