Zach Hood, a rising senior at Bellville High School, was involved in a fatal accident Sunday night, his family announced. He was 18 years old.
In a statement released Monday evening, Bellville ISD said services will be held Friday, July 24, at Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville from 5 to 8 p.m. before a remembrance gathering is held at Bellville ISD Stadium at 9 p.m.
“Zach was an incoming senior, student athlete, leader, friend, classmate, son, grandson and brother,” the district’s statement said. “Many in our Brahma Family are struggling to process this tragedy and are hurting deeply from this loss.”
Bellville head football coach and athletic director Grady Rowe also offered his condolences to the family in a social media post.
“Zach Hood was a leader on and off the field,” Rowe said Monday night. “His big smile was contagious. He was always in a good mood, always willing to help others out, and we will always remember him.”
Hood garnered first-team all-district kicker honors after a junior season that saw the Brahmas go three rounds deep in the playoffs for the fourth time in five years.
