Through some rain, the Tiger golf squad put together an impressive front nine to register a fourth-place finish out of six teams participating with a full roster at the La Grange Tournament last Thursday.
Senior Aidan Roberts led the way for Sealy, keeping his score to 40 through the only nine holes they were able to play, which set him up for a third-place finish. Carson Wray from the winning Columbus team and Flatonia’s top golfer finished ahead of Roberts by one and two strokes respectively.
Hunter Thielemann’s round of 45 was followed by Steven Dorenbach’s 50-stroke round and Reece Novicke rounded out the team score with his 54.
The Tigers were only three strokes away from tying the second-place Bellville team although the Brahmas had five golfers on their roster. Caldwell also had four participants and their 187 strokes combined edged out Sealy as well.
Columbus’ top team took the squad title with a total of 164 although their top swinger registered second overall.
The Tigers get another crack at it this week, with a trip to the Waller Mustang Tournament scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
