On April 6-7, 2018, Austin County 4-H had 24 youth participating in the District 11 Spring Spectacular in Victoria.
The youth competed against 17 counties in the Coastal Bend Region. Those competing participated in Educational Presentations, Fashion Show, 4-H Storyboard, Beef Quiz Bowl and Share the Fun.
During 4-H Roundup, members have the chance to develop a spirit of cooperation with their fellow 4-H members; develop self-confidence through public performance; stimulate interest in broad-based recreation in 4-H clubs; encourage 4-H members to discover and develop their talents: and to grow socially, culturally, and further develop leadership skills.
The following youth competed at the District level: Hudson Ham (Senior Educational Presentation – second); Madison Makowsky (Fashion Show – Senior Buying- Blue Award & Story Board – Blue Award); Jillian Edwards (Fashion Show – Senior Construction – second); Jocelyn Edwards (4-H Storyboard – third) Blake Makowsky (Fashion Show – Intermediate Buying- second & Story Board – second); Lanie Kelly (Fashion Show – Junior Buying – second); Makayla Makowsky (Fashion Show – Junior Buying - Blue Award and 4-H Storyboard – Blue Award); Grace Lischka (Fashion Show – Junior Buying – first); Allyson Estep (Share the Fun – first); James Schumann, Maddison Diezi and Samantha Diezi (Junior Beef Quiz Bowl – first); Reagan Burke, Trinity Geick, Katie Schumann and Jack Luedeker (Junior Beef Quiz Bowl – third); Garrett Melnar, Hunter Schumann, Jacob Kolwes and Lee Michalik (Senior Beef Quiz Bowl).
In addition, Austin County is proud to have several 4-H members advancing to State 4-H Roundup in College Station.
