Garrett Redden named first-team all-state

Four more Tigers earn Honorable Mentions

The Texas Associated Press Sports Editors' Class 4A all-state teams were announced Tuesday and five Tigers cracked the list.

Junior Garrett Redden highlighted the nominees, grabbing first-team honors following his year.

After all 13 games, he registered 150 tackles, seven for loss, three sacks and a pair of safeties from his linebacker position.

He joins Monte Cluck from Boerne and Carson Smith from Dalhart as the third linebacker on the squad with all of them recording at least 145 tackles.

Four more players from Sealy secured honorable mentions with two of them coming from the offensive line.

Junior Jacob Evanicky anchored the line from his center position and senior Arturo Hernandez ended his career with the honorable mention after his contributions from right tackle.

One of Redden's defensive teammates, Hunter Clark (also a junior) bagged an honorable mention from the linebacker spot as well, setting the bar for next year at a reasonably high level.

Finally, from the most important facet of the game, kicker David Ponce-Gomez gets to ride off into the sunset with the honor as well, providing key kicks whenever he was needed.
