The dog days of summer have certainly arrived, and with the soaring temperatures Texas State Parks is sharing seven tips to help Texans enjoy time outdoors safely. Last year, 47 state parks reported 141 heat-related illnesses in humans and pets. Since January 1, 77 heat-related incidents have already been reported, compared to 64 reported by this time last year.

Blinn Esports to host its inaugural camps in June and July

The Blinn College Esports Program will host its inaugural Esports Camp in June and July. Buccaneers head coach Aaron Kapiko and assistant coaches Kyle Murto and Ryan Lucich invite current high school and incoming college students to attend the two threeday camps, which will take place from 9 a.m.noon and 1 p.m.-5 p.m.

Columbus’ Thomas becomes Blinn’s first All-American at national tournament

Ty Thomas and the 14th-ranked Blinn College men’s golf team made history this year at the NJCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship tournament. Competing amongst a field of 24 teams at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan., the Buccaneers tied for eighth place overall in the fourday competition for their best finish in program history, while Thomas became Blinn’s first-ever All-American by tying for fifth individually.
