Coming into last week’s scrimmage with Bellaire Episcopal, Sealy Head Football Coach Clint Finley said he just wanted to see his Tigers come out and play with confidence and not worry about making any mistakes. “I just want the kids to get out there and compete against Episcopal and play with confidence,” Finley said.

Knights football swings into scrimmage action

The Faith Academy Knights held their first scrimmage of the young football season at SAB Stadium, Friday night in front of a packed house. The Knights welcomed Spring Founders (TAPPS) and Second Baptist University Model (TAPPS), in a three-team switchoff style scrimmage. A few minor mistakes here and there with the blocking but they moved the ball all night and outscored both teams by a combined 11 touchdowns.

The Sealy boys of fall will have one more tune-up game this week in their final scrimmages of the year before the start of the 2023 season. Sealy will travel to Columbus to take on the Cardinals in its final scrimmage for the upcoming season.

Sealy opened its 2023 season with a home contest against Kempner and now will participate in the Columbus tournament Aug. 10-12 Caroline Owen is taking over the reins of the program at Sealy after serving two years coaching at the junior high and the last three at the high school.

Blinn football welcomes Marine Corps for high-intensity workouts

The Blinn College football team welcomed service members from the Marine Corps onto the Blinn-Brenham campus Wednesday for a morning of military-style workouts. The Marines, from the College Station Marine Corps Recruiting Station (College Station, Texas) in association with 8th Marine Corps District (Fort Worth, Texas), led three one-hour works for the Buccaneers with a focus on providing a high-intensity exercise regimen and a renewed respect for the rigors of military training.
