Sealy senior Colette Kelley signed a college softball letter of intent with Wayland Baptist University. Wayland Baptist University Athletics just added softball to its sports lineup beginning last fall. After an initial year with a “leadership class,” Wayland softball will compete in the Sooner Athletic Conference — alongside WBU’s 17 other sports — beginning with the 2023-24 academic year.
Both the Sealy boys' and girls' soccer teams are starting to warm up their teams for the upcoming seasons ahead. The Sealy girls are coming off a strong season in which the Lady Tigers made a nice run in the Class 4A playoffs. The girls’ squad lost only one senior from last year’s team and will return virtually its entire roster for this year’s team. Leading the way will be junior Avery Schalla (1), sophomore Callie Whatley and junior Elizabeth Reichardt (7). Look for the Sealy Lady Tigers to make another nice run in the playoffs this year.
Brazos had two of its senior cross-country runners named to the Academic All State teams. Senior Cougarette Denise Hauer (left) was chosen for second team while senior Cougar Rees Snedaker (right) was chosen for second team. These students not only excelled on the course but in the classroom as well.
Sealy’s boys and girls basketball programs have several key players returning to their rosters this season.
