When many softball “experts” saw the matchup between a state-ranked Cuero team and Sealy in the area round of the playoffs, most had penciled in the Lady Gobblers moving on in the Class 4A playoffs. Someone forgot to tell Sealy about those plans.

GETTING STRONGER EVERY DAY

Ayoung softball team took a giant step in its growth process last week as the Sealy Lady Tigers swept Brazosport in two straight games to clinch the bi-district title for the program. The team that experienced a lot of growing pains last year is now starting to see the fruit of their labor as the team is making strides on the field to become a softball program that will be contended with for the foreseeable future.

Sealy will be well represented at the State Class 4A UIL track and field meet with several athletes punching their tickets with high finishes at the area track and field meet. The top two finishers at the area meet earn a ticket to the state meet in two weeks in Austin.

WHARTON – When this season began, Sealy Head Softball Coach Brittany Whitehead believed her team had the talent to make some noise in district and on Monday evening, the Lady Tigers proved that to be right. Sealy pummeled El Campo 15-3 in the seeding playoff game to earn second place out of Distict 24-4A and give the Lady Tigers a nice dose of confidence as they head into the softball playoffs.
