The Brazos Cougars cross country team competed in the 2022 UIL Region III Cross Country Meet on Tuesday in Huntsville at Kate Barr Ross Park. The varsity girls team finished third out of 23 teams to qualify for the state cross country meet.

Brazos came into Friday’s contest with Danbury needing a victory to keep its playoff hopes alive. For the Cougars, it was just another game on the schedule where the Brazos just needed to worry about Brazos and not anything else.

In years of old, the Sealy-Sweeny matchup would be a game that many would earmark as a top game of the week. But the Bulldogs have fallen on hard times this season and have suffered through a 1-7 overall record and stand winless in District 10-4A.

After last Friday’s loss to Needville, the Sealy Tigers are currently tied with Needville for third place in District 25-4A and will have a playoff game with the Lady Blue Jays to determine third place in the playoff standings.

Coming into last Friday’s matchup with Wharton, the Sealy Tigers knew what was at stake as they entered the final three-game district stretch to the season. First step checked off.

Addie Kuespert, 2021 Queen, returned to her roots from University of Mary Hardin-Baylor to crown the new 2022-2023 Queen, Chesney Johnston.
