Faith Academy traveled to Mansfield to participate in the TAIAO Baseball State Championship. The Knights played two games on Wednesday and two games on Thursday. The games on Wednesday seeded them for the tournament on Thursday.

The girls track team competed in the District 23 & 24 3A Area Track Meet on Wednesday, April 19 at Coldspring- Oakhurst High School. The varsity girls’ team finished in 10th place with 26 points.

Survive and advance. That’s the motto that Sealy’s girl’s track and field team has adopted this year and put that to good use last week at the area meet held in Bay City.

As the Brazos Cougars prepared for this baseball season, Head Coach Chris Bright knew he was going to have to rely on some youth to fill in gaps on the team. He believed his team had the right mix of youth and experience on the squad to challenge for a district playoff spot.

Coming into last week’s district contests with Brookshire Royal and Wharton, the Sealy Tigers knew what was ahead of them and knew what needed to be done. Sealy stands in second place in District 25-4A a game ahead of El Campo and needed to secure the two wins over Royal and Wharton to set up a big road contest with the Ricebirds for second place this week.

District champions. Both the Sealy boys’ and girls’ track and field teams captured first place at the district meet held last week in Navasota.

As Sealy headed into last week’s baseball schedule, the Tigers had a loaded week staring them right in the face. Sealy had a road contest with Bellville, a home contest with Navasota, road contest with Needville and home contest with the Tomball Kings sitting on their agenda.

Sealy senior Jasmyne Joiner is taking the next step in her volleyball career as she has inked a college letter of intent to play volleyball at Wharton Junior College. “She has grown so much as a volleyball player since meeting her in eighth grade,” said Sealy Head Volleyball Coach Kim Boyd.
