So, what happens when you get a group of 12–14-year-old softball girls together for the first time and you set them loose on the all-star circuit? If they are as talented as the Sealy Junior Girls team, you are packing your bags and getting ready to fly out to Washington for the Little League Girls Softball World Series. This band of 10 girls have gone undefeated in earning a berth at the World Series and now will face off against their stiffest challenge on that journey.

Eight Blinn athletic programs named NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year

The Blinn College District is pleased to announce that eight Buccaneer athletic programs and 51 student athletes have been recognized as 2022-23 NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year. Blinn volleyball, with a cumulative team grade point average of 3.52, led a list of Buccaneer teams that also includes softball (3.38), men’s golf (3.23), men’s basketball (3.23), baseball (3.14), men’s soccer (3.13), women’s basketball (3.08), and women’s golf (3.04).

Serving crosses and the community

Local 18-yearold Tanner Ellis was recently awarded the ranking of Eagle Scout by the Sealy City Council for his contributions towards revitalizing the basketball court at the B&PW Park. The now-current Eagle Scout first joined the Boys Scouts when he was in first grade, and because he entered the program at such a young-age, was required to achieve the rankings of Bobcat, Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelos before entering middle school.
