With more than 540 players on 45 teams this year, the Sealy Little League held its opening day ceremonies Saturday at BP&W Park.

Here are some of the opening day numbers for the season: 540 players, 45 teams, 150+ volunteers, 35 umpires and 22 games on opening day.

None of this could be possible without our volunteers who help us every step of the way.

The Sealy Tigers basketball program went through a season of rebuilding this past season but still the Tigers had three players recognized to the all-district teams that were announced.

Earning a spot on the first team was Kallan Hendry, who averaged 15.1 points and 2.1 seals per game during the district campaign.

Sealy had two players named to the honorable mention team. Leading the way was Ronnie Thrasher, who scored 10.1 points per game and Hale Demaree, who averaged 7.1 points per game and hit on 18 three-pointers during the district season.

When you do the near impossible once, most people equate it to extreme luck. When you do it twice, it starts to feel like it’s in your DNA.

The Sealy Lady Tigers are standing at 4-0 in the early going of district play after securing victories during the Spring break holiday. Overall, Sealy is sitting at 15-7 on the season.

The girls’ basketball season may not have ended the way it was planned but the Sealy girls’ program still has a lot to hang their hat on when the season ended. Sealy placed members on the All-District teams that were announced recently.

Former Sealy Tiger and current NFL Player Ricky Seals-Jones was March’s special guest speaker at the Sealy Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Lunch N Learn Wednesday, March 6. The event was held at the Knights of Columbus Hall last week and featured lunch sponsored by Wolfpack Bar and Grill.

The Dierschke Relays had been on hold for two straight years on the Sealy track and field landscape but the relays returned last Thursday in a strong fashion as both the Sealy boys and girls walked away with first place finishes at the meet.

The smell of victory became a fragrance the Lady Tigers seemed to spray themselves with every district game this season as they became the first Sealy girls’ soccer team ever to go completely undefeated in a regular season. Sealy’s girls secured the historic 10-0 feat in resounding fashion as they completely thrashed the Hempstead Bobcats 7-0 March 8 in a game that also saw them seal the district championship.
